FINANCIAL SHIFT
Transfomative agreements vary by their transformative mechanisms, meaning the way in which financing is shifted from the subscription side to open access publishing. What are the characteristics of this agreement to this regard? |
Subscriptions fully converted to OA publishing fees (access related costs 5% or less) |
RISK SHARING
How do entitlements for open access publishing correlate to the anticipated article output? Which mechanisms for risk sharing have been agreed in cases of exceeding or not reaching the number of OA publishing entitlements? |
Article allocation (hybrid journals) and Gold APC Fund (amount allocated for fully OA journals) matched to cover 100% of estimated publishing output.
In the event of the publication cap (hybrid journals) being reached, there is no obligation to fund additional articles. Each institution may choose whether they will continue to fund additional articles over and above the cap number or not. A 15% discount will be applied to the APC. 5% rollover in the event of underpublishing, 1,2% of the value of the hybrid article allocation may be transferred into the Gold APC fund. |
