RISK SHARING How do entitlements for open access publishing correlate to the anticipated article output? Which mechanisms for risk sharing have been agreed in cases of exceeding or not reaching the number of OA publishing entitlements?	The expected research article output of 9500 in 2020 is based on significant analysis of publishing trends of German corresponding authors and, multiplied by the PAR fee constitutes the reference value for the contract. Potential deviations are defined beyond an upper and a lower threshold. These upper/lower thresholds are set at: +5%/0% in 2020, +10%/-5% in 2021, and +20%/-15% in 2022. Articles beyond the upper threshold will be published but not charged. Pre-payment of reference values will gradually transition, in steps of 25% per year, to post-payments over the course of the agreement. For details, see pages 25-26 of the contract.
