OVERALL ASSESSMENT AND COMMENTS
This cost-neutral agreement covers unlimited OA publishing as well as reading access (including perpetual rights to years subscribed) to RSC’s full journal package (RSC Gold). Negotiated license terms are robust for the reading component of the agreement. The publisher seems to have a smooth workflow in place for corresponding authors who are covered by the agreement. As RSC achieves a full transition to OA, it will be critical for the publisher to rightsize and ensure equity of participating institutions’ pricing thoughtfully and transparently over time.
