COSTS

How do the costs of the agreement relate to previous subscription-only agreements with the publisher?

Agreement costs within the range of the previous spending level
Comments on cost development The agreement includes mechanisms for cost control which restrict the growth of UC expenditures due to fluctuations in publishing volume
FINANCIAL SHIFT

Transfomative agreements vary by their transformative mechanisms, meaning the way in which financing is shifted from the subscription side to open access publishing. What are the characteristics of this agreement to this regard?

Subscriptions fully converted to OA publishing fees (access related costs 5% or less)
RISK SHARING

How do entitlements for open access publishing correlate to the anticipated article output? Which mechanisms for risk sharing have been agreed in cases of exceeding or not reaching the number of OA publishing entitlements?

There is a maximum total spend set for publishing the same amount of articles as the year prior to the contract. If fees are above the maximum they are deferred to the end of the agreement and only paid if library cost reductions are achieved. Additionally, if publishing volume is significantly below the expected volume, the library makes a reconciliation payment.

Fees paid for publication above the number of articles from the year prior to the agreement are very strictly limited depending on expected publication volume growth and targets for other parameters within the agreement.
