Comments on cost development Corresponding authors automatically receive a 15% discount on full open access articles and 10% discount on hybrid open access articles. The is no change in the subscription costs. Articles in Lancet and Cell Press journals are excluded from the agreement and from this data.

OVERALL ASSESSMENT AND COMMENTS This agreement provides a tangible benefit to UF corresponding authors with no financial impact on the Smathers Libraries. It is sustainable and could be a model for other agreements between Elsevier and academic research libraries. The agreement has only been in place for a few months so it is not yet possible to assess the impact on the transition to open access.
