How do entitlements for open access publishing correlate to the anticipated article output? Which mechanisms for risk sharing have been agreed in cases of exceeding or not reaching the number of OA publishing entitlements?

The agreement offers unlimited OA publishing in CUP’s hybrid and fully OA titles. A 10% APC discount is available for articles published in Cambridge Prisms and Research Directions for 2024. From 2025, the latter, too, will be eligible for free OA publishing.

Comments on workflows Too early to assess. Some issues due to the cyber incident CUP faced earlier this year but the CUP staff has been very helpful.
OVERALL ASSESSMENT AND COMMENTS
We think it is both sustainable and transparent with regards to costs and operations. The model represents a way to move away from our current model based on subscription spend + APCs in the wild to a one based on publishing output.
