How do entitlements for open access publishing correlate to the anticipated article output? Which mechanisms for risk sharing have been agreed in cases of exceeding or not reaching the number of OA publishing entitlements?

If in 2023 the total number of APC allowances is exhausted, up to 10% of the following year’s APC allowances may be used in 2023.

Authors that have not identified themselves as affiliated to a subscriber or have not selected open access prior to publication have possibility to retrospective open access publishing. Authors who have erroneously paid their own APC will be entitled to request a refund.
